The Department of Commerce, Office of Inspector General, is aware of a scam involving the impersonation of procurement and acquisition officials that has occurred across numerous Department of Commerce bureaus, with fraudulent requests for quotes and purchase orders. The requests typically involve Information Technology (IT) equipment, such as laptop computers, external hard drives, and tablets, but could also include medical equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE). Please do not engage with these entities via email and/or telephone. The Department of Commerce, Office of Acquisition Management, does not issue contracts. If you believe you have been contacted as part of this scam, please notify the Department of Commerce, Office of Inspector General, immediately and file a report.
