Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross
On May 29, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross toured Maverick Boat Group's 127,000-square-foot manufacturing plant, an $11 million facility opened in 2018, to see how the company builds its Cobia and Pathfinder brands.
Jobs was the main focus of an hour-long roundtable hosted by the Center for Sportfishing Policy, a group of boating and fishing industry leaders. Ross and U.S. Rep. Brian Mast, R-Palm City, were among the dignitaries.
Also on May 29, Secretary Ross announced $10 million in Economic Development Administration (EDA) grants to the state of Florida during a visit to Indian River State College (IRSC) in Ft. Pierce.
On June 2, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross initiated an investigation into whether the present quantities or circumstances of vanadium imports into the United States threaten to impair the national security.

On May 26, researchers at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) developed a mathematical formula that, computer simulations suggest, could help 5G and other wireless networks select and share communications frequencies about 5,000 times more efficiently than trial-and-error methods.
On May 27, the U.S. Census Bureau reported responses to the 2020 Census are on track as more than 60% of U.S. households have responded to the 2020 Census, with approximately four out of every five households that responded on their own choosing to do so online at 2020census.gov.
