U.S. Department of Commerce Congratulates Tom Gilman, White House Pick to be Assistant Secretary of Commerce and Chief Financial Officer

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Today, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross congratulated Mr. Tom Gilman after the White House announced their intent to nominate him to be the Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Administration and Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Gilman has considerable experience as a leader across several industries and as a valued advisor to business leaders around the world. Ms. Lisa Casias, currently performing the non-exclusive functions and duties of the Assistant Secretary for Administration and Chief Financial Officer, will continue in her role pending Mr. Gilman’s confirmation. 

“Congratulations to Mr. Gilman – an excellent addition to our leadership team at the Department of Commerce,” said Secretary Ross. “Those of us at the Department could not be more appreciative of his willingness to put his extensive business experience to work serving the public.”

“I am honored to be nominated by the President to serve as Chief Financial Officer and Assistant Secretary at the Department of Commerce,” said Mr. Gilman. “After decades in the private sector, I am proud to have the opportunity to serve with Secretary Ross and all my future colleagues at the Department.”

Mr. Tom Gilman has worked for years in a variety of senior management and financial roles throughout the private sector. His recent positions include serving as the former Chairman and CEO of Chrysler Financial and as President and CEO of Toronto Dominion Bank’s North American Automotive Finance business. In addition, Mr. Gilman previously worked as a Senior Advisor for Cerberus Operations and Advisory Corporation.
