Flexible Spending Accounts for Federal Employees (FSAFEDS)

Flexible Spending Accounts for Federal Employees (FSAFEDS) offers two different flexible spending accounts (FSAs):

  1. a health care flexible spending account, and
  2. a dependent care flexible spending account.

An open season is held each year at the same time as the Federal Employees Health Benefits open season (the November/December timeframe) during which you can enroll in an FSA for the following year.

Employees who wish to participate, or continue to participate (it does not automatically roll over each year), must enroll, or re-enroll, during the Open Season period.  

New and newly eligible employees have 60 days after their entry on duty to enroll in the program.
