Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey (FEVS)

The Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey (FEVS) measures employees' perceptions of whether, and to what extent, conditions characteristic of successful organizations are present in the agency. The FEVS serves as a tool for employees to share their perceptions in many critical areas including their work experiences, their agency, and leadership.

Survey results are analyzed at the Department, bureau, and lower levels to help inform decision-making and to allow managers to see where improvements within their work units are necessary.  A sample of actions taken at the Department of Commerce in response to FEVS feedback is available here

The Partnership for Public Service in conjunction with the Boston Consulting Group also uses the results to determine the Best Places to Work in Federal Government rankings available at http://bestplacestowork.org/BPTW/rankings/overall/large. Additionally, the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and the Office of Management and Budget uses results to evaluate agency progress in organizational performance based upon employee feedback.
